VEGAS BOOKIES: MU Tigers "70-1 longshots" to win national football title

COLUMBIA, 7/24/10  (Beat Byte) --  With 8 returning starters, the University of Missouri Tigers football team is a "70-1 longshot to win the national title in 2010 college football odds," say odds makers at BetUS, a 16-year-old online betting firm that bills itself as the world's largest.

"The Tigers are a confident group heading into 2010 college football picks, as quarterback Blaine Gabbert returns to lead the offense after passing for close to 3,600 yards with 24 touchdown passes," BetUS writer Mick Bergent notes in a July 24 analysis.   "The top running backs all return, led by senior Derrick Washington.  But the top 2 producers from last year are gone, led by Danario Alexander."

Mizzou will be "the prime competition for Nebraska in the Big 12 North," while the team's "toughest home game will be against Oklahoma," the analysis concludes.   "Bet Missouri 70-1 as a longshot in 2010 BCS college football odds to win the national championship."
