"Columbia is an ideal Groupon market," said Groupon president Rob Solomon. "We look forward to bringing students and residents unbeatable deals from top local businesses."
Groupon negotiates discounts with popular businesses, giving subscribers daily email alerts. Deals are only activated when a minimum number of people agree to buy, encouraging subscribers to share promotions.
"Groupon brings buyers and sellers together in a fun and collaborative way," said Solomon. "We offer the consumer a great deal they can't get anywhere else and deliver the sales directly to the merchant."
Columbia joins St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield as Missouri's fourth Groupon market.
